I have made a commitment to educate myself about what has happened to our public education. How is it possible to continue to outspend the world on education, but not even be close to the best in the world?
In an article from the Pew Research Center, it says:
“One of the biggest cross-national tests is the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), which every three years measures reading ability, math and science literacy and other key skills among 15-year-olds in dozens of developed and developing countries. The most recent PISA results, from 2015, placed the U.S. an unimpressive 38th out of 71 countries in math and 24th in science. Among the 35 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which sponsors the PISA initiative, the U.S. ranked 30th in math and 19th in science.”
This is a very complex issue, and, no doubt, there are many reasons. However, here is a factor that I discovered when reading “Leftist Indoctrination in our K-12 Public Schools”, by Sara Dogan and Peter Collier of the David Horowitz Freedom Center.
“One of the most dangerous developments of the last few decades has been the subversion of our universities by radicals who in the 1960’s first tried to burn them down; and then, after this strategy of destruction failed, decided to get on the tenure track to take them over…….American higher education is now an indoctrination center for cultural Marxism, identity racism, and other anti-American ideas…..To make the victory complete, it must take over all of American education, including the schooling of our youngest and most vulnerable students. This effort is now well advanced as radical leftists use their control of the university Ed schools and the teacher unions as a base to extend their ideological campaigns into the K-12 system.”
Their shock troops include teachers, administrators and textbook publishers and feature “theorists” such as former Weatherman Bill Ayers (who reinvented himself as an eminent Professor of Early Childhood Education at the University of Illinois when his days as a terrorist had ended.) They provide the manuals on “teaching for social justice” that target teacher training programs and ultimately children as early as kindergarten for radical indoctrination.”
You may ask what is “cultural Marxism“?
“Cultural Marxism is a revolutionary leftist idea that traditional culture is the source of oppression in the modern world. Cultural Marxism is often linked to an insistence upon political correctness, multiculturalism, and perpetual attacks on the foundations of culture: the nuclear family, marriage, patriotism, traditional morality, law and order, etc. Cultural Marxists are assumed to be committed to establishing economic Marxism, in which case their cultural attacks are a necessary preparation for their ultimate goal.” I think of it as wanting to destroy everything that God has created. That is why I state publicly that we are not only in a cultural war, but also a spiritual war.
I am also reading a book entitled “Push Back” written by B.K. Eakman. Have you ever heard of Implicit Association Test (IAT)? In the field of neuroscience (dealing with the structure or function of the body’s nervous system and brain) it is known as “rapid cognition” screening. The idea is to measure the student’s unconscious, automatic beliefs. The student can reveal their deep-seated attitudes by this association-based method.
It works this way. A computer is programmed to force a respondent to decide between what appears to be random associations very quickly – in milliseconds. The test is written to determine if the student is, for example, “moderately biased” toward a particular view. I was so intrigued with this I had to find a website that offered the test and then take the test.
If you want to see what the test is like, here is a link that you can use. https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatest.html
It is my belief that evil works in incremental steps. Sometimes so imperceptible slow that the victims are not aware of the evil that is enveloping them. Are you aware of SEL (social and emotional learning) in Ohio’s public schools?
A purported definition of SEL: “Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.” Seems fairly benign, does it not?
This is not the three R’s anymore. How easy do you think it would be for the evil leftists controlling our public education to substitute “knowledge, attitudes and skills” with “behavior, attitudes and beliefs” in their programming? Once the Marxists have indoctrinated a couple of generations of children, the destruction of a society becomes much easier – doing it for 4 or five generations and it may be impossible to reverse.
I am reminded by a Bible verse that I use frequently, Isaiah 5:20: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil. Here are some links that discuss Social and Emotional Learning (copy and paste them to your browser).
If you are still not convinced of the communist infiltration into our public schools, you may wish to read the book “School of Darkness” by Bella V. Dodd. The only place I could find it in our public library system was as a reference book at the Cleveland Public Library. I traveled to Cleveland to read the content, and then decided to add it to my personal library by purchasing it on Amazon. It was written in 1954, and illustrates the inner workings of the Communist Party in America as experienced by Dodd.
I will continue to post as I learn new facts about our public education system. I am already coming to the conclusion that we must never allow the State to outlaw home schooling, and we must fight to ensure that parents remain in control of their children. It may be our only chance of “pushing back” against the subversion that has taken place in our public schools.
