The federal government Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides money for Community Development under the CDGB and HOME programs. They support activities such as, infrastructure, economic development projects, installation of public facilities, community centers, housing rehabilitation, public services, clearance/acquisition, microenterprise assistance, code enforcement, homeowners assistance, and many more. The federal government is hoping that if they support community development it will encourage systematic and sustained action by State and local government to improve the communities.
Here is a list of local Agencies that have been granted CDBG and HOME funding:
The total funding for the CDBG is $1,234,921 and the HOME Program $355,307.
Interesting to note is that we see many of the same Agencies that are already receiving funds from the local ADAMHS Board. What happens when the federal money starts to dry up?
We will start checking out some of these new Agencies. Stay tuned for updates….
